The Long Line of Mitsubishi Evo

Mitsubishi Evo is one of the most popular sedans at present. The popularity of Evo is well reflected in the fact that the company has manufactured as many as 10 Mitsubishi Evo versions till date. The first Mitsubishi Evo came in GSR and RS models with a 2.0 L turbo DOHC engine. The engine was shared by Mitsubishi RVR. This model was all set to compete in the World Rally Championship with the 4G63 engine’s capacity of generating 244 hp at 6000 rpm. Towards the end of the year 1993, certain modifications were made to this model and Mitsubishi Evo II was introduced in the markets. The modifications included a stronger engine (256 hp) and other handling improvements like the wider tyres, and wheelbase adjustments.

The next model, Mitsubishi Evo III was unveiled in 1995 and came with more aggressive looks and better styling. Improve engine capable of producing 270 bhp at 6250 rpm made this model a hit in the markets. The new facelift couples with better engine durability and better cooling capacity made this model the first choice for buyers. In addition to the GSR and RS models, the RS2 model was introduced. In 2003 Evo VIII was unveiled which sported Enkie wheels, Bilstein shocks and Brembo Brakes to hand traction. A 5 speed manual gearbox was provided to this 2003 Mitsubishi Evo model. This model was given the MR designation when soon after it was presented in the Tokyo motor show. This high performance model soon made way for some other variants in the U.K. The FQ320 and FQ 400 variants came with 325 and 400 hp engine.

The last Evo model, the Mitsubishi Evo X was launched in 2005 and was designed by Omer Halilhodzic in Europe. The turbocharged 1998 cc inline-4 GEMA engine was the major attraction for customers around the globe. The Mistubishi Evo X can reach 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds and the engine is capable of generating 296 hp at 6500 rpm. This model is among the best that Mitsubishi has ever produced. The various user friendly features and the aggressive exteriors and interiors have definitely attracted customers from all over the world.
